Just curious, but what kind of trap speeds are people pulling with the T-rex and other big cams like it? I know that some people have seen 126 MPH with 224 cams. I would hope that a cam as big as the T-rex would pull at least 130 MPH to make it worth putting up with on the street. (Otherwise, I think I'd go with a larger CI engine for a street/strip car.) So, are any of them putting down some BIG trap speeds to go along with their BIG durations?

Joe, watcha trappin' buddy?

I've been in Joe's car and it is very streetable I was shocked! It rides very nice and he drives it alot. I have one sitting right here next to me but on a nitrous grind and I have no daubts it will be a performer and very streetable.

colonel, ill let ya know on the trap speeds in a few days.

as for the rest of yall, i drive mine a few days a week. it has plenty of low end power, the gears really help. and i dont turn but 2500 rpms at around 75-80mph. 1st time i have ever been able to use 6th gear for accelerating.
it has a wot tune but none for drivability yet. im still recording with a-tap first. i idles fine. never hunts for a idle, dont try to kill, and pulls like a mother from 3000-7200 rpms.
but im sure some of you grandpas out there would prefer a tamer cam for driving all day.
if you want 450rwhp, all you need is a minor head upgrade or get some stg.2's and put down hp in the 480+ range.

Hey, for everyone out there knocking the T-Rex why don't you tell the rest of us what kind of cam you think can compete with the T-Rex on a stock set of heads with full bolt on's, 4.10's, with a M6??? I hope you are talking about a T-Rex without a tune because I saw Joe's car at the track last Friday, and I can tell you that it sounds incredible. The car idle's fine and is a monster. By saying it is not streetable, have you seen one with a nice tune? I am in the position of anyone else on this forum looking to get the best cam with stock heads and a nice tune, and right now the T-Rex is #1 on my list until someone else proves me wrong...

Alright Rodney, for all the people doubting this cam let them come ride in your car. I've been driving around on mine for a month with stock 3:42's back in the car untuned. My wife even drives the car around, kind of unbelievable for some people with a cam of this size. It sounds awesome with the Borla open....

Are the automatic 3.73 3500lb guys poisoning this thread?

Some cars are light with tight gear ratios. Will this cam work on a light M6 car?

i have driven this cam in multiple cars already. one had 3.42's i have had 4.10 and 4.56's. the 3.42 are dirivable, but the 4.56's make this cam soooo easy to drive. not sure i understand the reasoning behind you asking about a light car. the lighter it is the faster it goes, i must be mis interpreting you question there. guess my lack of sleep could be contributing to this. im currently at 3500 and soon will be 3350 or so.

Light cars don't care about bog much. You rev the crap outta them to get moving quick.

Big gears, and a light car can handle a bigger cam.

IMO, 450 rwhp without dyno tricks and daily driver are not going to work unless you dont mind driving around a full out race car all the time. and yea, there are MAJOR issues with that.
What are you talking about?

Your opinion is wrong!

Lots of ways to do that without going crazy.

Hell, take the motor the colonel has in his car and put in it a M6, it'd make near 450 RWHP, and with the stealth cam, it idles and sounds like stock.

Or add more cam.

Or add more cubes.

Or a few PSI from a blower.

All are very reliable ways to make more than 450 RWHP, and still be daily driveable.

But a TRex in a 346 stock headed motor isn't my idea of streetable, but for some people it's probably no big deal.

I bet a stroker with stage 2 heads and a 231/237 cam would make 450 RWHP and be perfectly streetable.

3590 lb automatic car right here bud. not 3.73 geared though. i run mid 11s at over 116 mph. "mild cam" for todays cams.

i guess you guys are right and i am wrong. yes, i have driven PLENTY of big named designer cams. yes, they are idle poorly. yes i have been to a big tech shootout (the biggest) and listened to all these "perfect idle" cars. yup, many many of them stalled or sounded like pro stockers. just another opinion.

My bad about the wait on my response guys. To address some issues.

1.) Idle - My idle is set for either 950 or 1000. It is as smooth as it was as 850.

2.) Stumble - I don't have any... whatsoever.

3.) Power band - I give up trying to explain, if think this is a F1 Indycar cam, don't buy it, your not worthy anyhow.

4.) Times... I ran a 2.4 sixty foot, 13.00 sec run @ 117 mph. I have a manual, I honeslty can drive, I just cant learn. I mananged to run a 12.50 @ 116 (with a 2.0 sixty) towards the end of the day but I stopped because race fuel was 5.00 a gallon, running a stock clutch and my diff in the 12 bolt is messed up, I went faster than my old times with headers and I was there to enjoy the car, not break it. I made 402 rwhp and 377 rwtq on the 10 bolt with 3.42 gears (thats another issue, other people are making 420 WITH the 12 bolt, lets stay on topic with the times not dyno numbers for now). With a clutch, ET Streets and a good driver (or even a decent driver) I think I could make a 11.80 - 11.90 pass. It is a really potent cam, capable of 11 second runs (as I feel) with just an exhaust and some ET streets.

FYI I gained a tad over 70 rwhp with this cam.

Gee, I run 1 mph faster and run anything from a 13.00 to a 12.50, let me have your A4 I should be driving school buses, not LS1's with T-Rex cams.

Colonel... the cam was my last mod for my car, I want to go with a 427 when my motor dies or I kill it, I see those motors run high 10's and they drive so well.
