Question Any information on mounting a 58x reluctor to FRONT of Gen III?

I've been away from this forum for awhile and...

...I have an extremely low mileage 2004 5.3l; I'm mounting a 6L80e behind it, thus the need for a 58x reluctor. I know that I can change out the 24x for the 58x on the crankshaft with the appropriate camshaft sensor hardware...but I was wondering if there has been any work done on a front mounted 58x...no sense reinventing the wheel.

There's no need for this as all the parts are there and just need to be installed. Most of the time peeps do conversions like you want is because the parts are not available. You could be the first!

Reinventing the wheel is exactly what you would be doing if you mounted a reluctor on the front of the engine.

I think the OP wants to do this to avoid removing the crank-and everything else bolted to it.

Fauxgs, there are adapters to convert a 58x signal to a 24 x signal but not the other way around.

I've never heard of a reluctor wheel for mounting externally on the front of an LS motor so I think you'll be taking that motor apart.

It does look like you've done your homework-the 6 speed autos need a newer 58x PCM with CAN.
