Default 2000 LS1 thumping / ticking under hood

Got a 2000 LS1 Trans Am and just got it back from having an automatic 4l60e built tranny installed. It has a 3200 stall. I dont know if it is relevant but i thought i would put it out there. Drove it with tranny tech no issues. Brought it home and took wife for a drive and i feel that when the tranny shifted and rpms went low is when the tick started. Sounded like an exhaust leak. The car did lug a bit when it shifted and i just rolled into throttle to get RPMs up.

Drove for about 1/4 mile to find a turn around and it started knocking on the top end. Never got worse and fluctuated with RPM's.

Oil pressure stays above 40# like it normally runs.

Got it home and parked it.

Questions are?

I am assuming pull valve covers and see what is damaged?

Should i pull heads?

If its a broke spring or bent push rod what all should i replace?

I appreciate any thoughts, troubleshooting tips, or advice. Looking forward to cracking open my first LS1

John

Is that oil pressure reading with a mechanical gauge or just looking at what the dash is reading? And when you say its knocking on the top end do you mean the top rpm range or the top end of the engine like the valve train?

Well pulled the valve covers on the noisy side and found one of the rockers arms very loose. They are gold with LS7 stamped on them. Pushrods are trick flow. The loose rocker i did not see any visible damage. The pushrod rolled flat on a flat surface.

Spring looks like all the others with nothing broken. No metal in the oil.

Anything else to look for?

Any links or guide to reinstalling rocker?

Thanks for any info...

John
