Default How much can i MILL

I need your EXPERIENCED opinion on this and not "upgrade your cam blah blah".
How much can I mill my 317's? Goin on a stock bottom end 00' 5.3L with a gm hotcam on .550 lift 219/228 .550/.550 112lsa. Keeping stock valve size. Do u think .030 off will be ok without PTV issues?

I think you'll be absolutely fine. But always measure. I think somewhere around .050-.060 you'll have intake alignment issues. I'm betting with that cam installed right will be no problem.

how bout change your heads...LOL; you'll likely have to mill them 70-80
thousandths just to restore the factory 9.5 compression ratio or are you
intentionally trying to lower it for a turbo application ????

Lift at .050 has nothing to do with PTV clearance.

What compression are you trying to maintain. I guess I don't follow the how much can I mill but i need to keep compression low for FI later.....What are you trying to accomplish?

WTF is "30 over" when discussing heads?

Hard to help people when the OP and half the respondents are clueless.

I have an lq4 with a tsp 224 cam, I had my 317's milled .040" and used a stock gasket. The compression calculator I used put this combo at 10.2 to 1.
