Default Motor build

Looking to build a motor with a fresh 6.0 iron block. I have a 1999 ws6 this will be going into with an auto tranny. I want atleast 500 rwhp and I'm on about a 3-3500 budget. Someone told me bore it out and use a stock crank and buy new rods and pistons and build from there. Then someone else told me to build a stock lq9 with a ls3 top end. What would be stronger and more money sensible?

3500 for the motor build I have the car already. 1999 ws6 a4. Gonna get the tranny rebuilt with about a 2800 stall so it's street able.

Turn it into a 408 with the best HCI that money can buy, and you should hit the 500 rwhp mark on an auto

Keep it stock ci, get some cnc'd ls3 heads, ls3 intake, nice sized cam, 1 7/8 headers. That should get you close. It will be hard to hit 500rwhp with that budget through a automatic, 470rwhp is more realistic.

That 3500.00 is going to run out very fast with you trying to hit 500hp in a A4. Then I see you are going with a 2800 stall. Most will tell you to go with a bigger stall. I DD a 3200 stall with 342 gears.

Ok well then I'm just gonna spend the 3500 and see what I can get. So I rephrase the question what's the best I can build a long block for 3500.

A head & cam package that'll do decent HP numbers will set you back at least $2,500.00.

And to make those numbers (500HP) you'll need more than the 366 inches of the 6.0 rotating assembly. Rods alone don't make power. Another $2,500.00 to get some cubes going.

Using your stock '99 LS1 intake manifold? Guess what?

I have an ls6 intake. I have to do the motor either way it had 218k still runs good but it's time for me to make it mine. Can't really do nos I live deep in the city if Cleveland and it's hard enough to drive fast let alone use nos.

If you don't already have the 6.0 block and are willing to part with the 500
rear wheel dream (which as most have stated is well beyond your budget)
then your best option is to freshen your LS1...rings, bearings, gaskets, hone
job on the cylinders and explore some of the Tech vendors for your cylinder
head work. Total Engine Airflow or Advanced Inductions can CNC your GM
castings with a fresh valvejob and new valvesprings for your cam. Usually
this ends up around 1000-1200 range. Call Geoff at EPS, Martin at Tick,
Brian Tooley or Texas Speed for a cam to work with your combination of
parts. You will still need to do your own assembly and a chassis dyno after-
wards will probably put you over budget by a few hundred bucks but a solid
500 flywheel or 425 rwhp combo is nothing to snooze at.
