Default 6.0 lock up

Ok did a cam swap and top end rebuild on my 2002 2500 155k miles and all was good drove it 5 miles total. It was bout three weeks that it sat due to working nights and overtime. I went to start it and it sounded like the starter stayed engaged so i immediately shut it off. Started perfect. I go to try it again click several tries of quick bumps of the key to crank it spun during one of many bumps of the key. My first thought was new starter so i got a starter and still clicked. My dad is a car salesman so he talked to the service manager and said it was the switch had it towed to the dealership and thats when i got the bad news. All electrical was fine and they tried turnin the motor by hand and couldnt budge it they checked the top end it was perfect drained the oil and found metal shavings idk how big of shavings. It had great oil pressure fresh oil change before i drove it done great and never missed a lick 40 psi at idle and around 65 at part throttle. This just happen all in the start up of 2 seconds i havent got the motor or truck back to the house yet so i aint tore it down to look at the crank or anything but wat could have caused this? It sat a while but i used towels to cover the block so it would not sweat like plastic and i turned the rotating assembly every other day with some oil in the cylinders not alot but enough not to rust while waiting on all my final parts. Any ideas right now money is tight and im goin to drop a 5.3 in till i build the bottom end if the block is ok and hope that the crank can be saved if that is wat it is. Sorry for the long post just wanted to get everything i done and know as of now in here.

My first guess is to double check everything you installed... make sure the cam didn't bind etc.

I just had a similar issue on the LS1 I swapped into the corvette, one of my injectors hung open while starting it I heard a big bang and the starter lost its torque, replaced it but then when I was putting it in and went to turn it over the same thing with just clicking... tear down found I actually broke a rod from the hydro-lock

Yes it rained but it was covered under the hood and fendrrs eith sevrrsl towels the dealership checked the top end and said it was all good It was a small cam 206/212 .515/.522. Wat will cause an injector to hang open likd thst if that is the case

Could be anything dirt, deposits etc. mine were brand new and flow tested but something must of gotten into it while working on the car...blew it out and its fine now... if this were the case you would probably smell some gas or see some dripping from the exhaust.

And the dealer checking the top end means nothing....they could have pulled a valve cover and said it all looked good while your cam bearings went to hell

Im not sure how they checked it its an hr away and im goin by wat my dad has told me so far i know they pulled the timing cover and the valve covers and drained the oil. Thry quoted at his price $900 to put a motor in it plus 2500 for a high milage 6.0 so im dropping a 5.3 in for a lil bit so i can break the 6.0 down and get it to a machine shop and hope for a usable block

IIRC, the 07 LQ4 will have the 58x reluctor wheel which will not work with your pcm which uses a 24x. Lingenfelter makes an adapter box to allow you to use the newer style but its a couple hundred bucks: http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...3#.UqXk0ht3u70

I would start looking at things that would have caused this if you plan on swapping items over such as injectors, heads, gaskets etc. because it can happen all over again...

My injectors were brand new when this happened to me and all it ended up being was a small piece of dirt that I blew out... Rain water getting in could be possible but not likely, you would have to have a major gasket leak for it to get by.. something you would have noticed while driving

I seen rain water take out many ls1 engines. its quite common. The windshield cowling leaks water right on to the intake AND I NEVER seen a stock LS1 that didn't have loose intake bolts..........

I havent gotten my motor back yet its in the bed of my truck an hr away i got the new motor in now but working nights and 12 hr shifts for six days a week leaves little time there was no way of rain or water to get into the motor just one rod was broken well more like shattered my dad had around 10 pieces of it laid in the pan so if my block is still usable im not goin to reuse my intake or injectors im goin to do a build for my car so that intake wouldnt work any way wat puzzled me was it happened when i started it i had drove it two weeks before with absolute no issues except for high idle and that was from the screw on the tb bein off a lil the idle was 1100 was around 650-700 stock
