LS1 to LS6.. or just drop an LS6 in?

One guy weights 170, his car has no weight reduction and 1/4 tank gas.....let's say his car weighs 3600 with him. The other guy is 225(very common), no ac , no front bar, !spare and drag pak on a 3/4 tank of gas.
Both started at 3430 w/o driver
-30 ac
-45 !spare
-15 no front bar
-12 gal gas = 75lb~ (about 50lb~ difference in fuel load)
-40 drag pak
Big boys car is 3575. A seemingly small difference for 2 very different cars. And 2 very real set-ups.
Those "cars" could realistically weigh the same if one had a little less gas on one a little more.

CA Smog *****...If your total pollution is more than 5% over your base line spec its a fail. I could have done a max effort LS6 but its just not worth the headaches! More power = more fuel = more waste gases..It runs strong with no issue from 39° Winters here to 121° Summer days in Vegas. And yes we have rolling smog checks that can spot you in traffic, CHP will pull you and you get tested right then..lol

I don't really see a full weight Fbody trapping 120mph with a LS6. Even with basic bolt ons they only make upper 300's to the wheels, that aint enough to run 120 at 3600-3700lbs. A 3100 lb C5 Z06 only runs around 118-120 with 390-400 to the wheels with basic bolt ons.

MIne went 11.8 @ 119.8 with very very basic bolt-ons .....not even a dr and on 18's. Some weight loss do to in the course of modding the these cars loss weight. But no real weight reduction at that point.
The basic things I see people do wrong is to much gear, not enough rpm's, thinking a fast intake does nothing over a ls6 intake.........and here's the real kicker......to heavy of a clutch like that ls7 pos.
For another comparison a bud and I put a ls1 Z28 in the 11's at 116 a while back. That didn't have headers and only about 200lb in weight reduction which is nothing on these cars. Very basic car even on 100+k stock suspension. A ls6 in that car should make another 60hp and push it to 122 pretty easily.

AAAAHHH ok.......but there are things you can do that has nothing to do with emissions.
I've seen stock c5 Z's run 116-118 several times. The record for a bolt-on c5 Z is now a 10.1. My bolt-on ls6 has been over 130(see sig) and with the fab 9 I recently put in the car I expect it to go into the 10's. Previous times were on the 10 bolt. Granted mine is a little extreme but the basic "bolt-on" ls6 mainly because it is "full bolt-ons". But it is easily duplicated. Mine also made 417whp on a dyno dynamics which reads low (3.5 %)when compared to dynojets and would make about 431whp on a dynojet. I have been running a bolt-on ls6 with various bolt-ons since 2002. So I know what they do if running right with lots of varying mods.

Fact is most all LS6 engines dont make 400 to the wheels even with bolt on's. In a heavy car, that's hard to get in the 11's over 115 or so mph.

And I agree, I would say those examples are the exception more than the rule. There are some threads on this site where people have spent a lot of time and detail on their combos and not really replicated the results.

Why do you feel you need to diagnose what MY car should be running? I live in CA so I'm very familiar about what I can and can't get away with here in CA? You know none of the details of my runs, I know your not familiar with the new Star OBD2 scanning test that actually compares your current cars tune to the stock factory tune and can FAIL you based on too many differences between the two, If I'm ever in VA you'll be the first I ask for advice before I leave CA ok? Not to be a smart ***..
And no worries emissions testing is a great revenue $tream for the states so you'll be a learning soon enough...

I wouldn't rely on that kind of "ricer" math much. The last dynojet I was around was reading a solid 35-40rwhp low on average for every car we strapped to it.

My car is not a exception to the rule......it's a example what can be done when it's done with accelerating the car in mind. Which is what most are here for.

Another fact is I have been on 3 different dyno jets and none varied more that 2hp. The last dyno jet I was on the car made 413, it has gained 18hp since then......you do the math.
Yeah....we're talking 9 sec cars here . I was just saying your car don't run as it should.....and it don't. It runs bolt-on ls1 times with your mods.

Question #1 is why are you so slow?
Question #2 is how are you running 131 mph in a heavy Fbody and he is only slightly faster?

They went 10.1 @ 134....not sure if their best mph was on their best et pass.
No my car is not full weight.......why would any car be full weight that you are modding for performance?
Not freak of nature......they like I are just doin different **** than the same ol' same ol'. They do a great job and are more drag oriented than I.
