Default Need help on heads, 241-ls6-243s or??

Okay guys ill be doing a head and cam install on my gto. my questions are for this,
1. is it worth having my 241s ported, if so who has the best reputation.
2.243-ls6-799 heads, will the out perform the 241 castings if both heads are ported the same, and both heads are using the same valve components?
3. or should I just run a set of AFRs or Trickflow heads, and will they have more porting potential down the road for my later build.
4. Also I have looked and looked, what is the biggest valve size able to run on a stock bottom end ls1? ill say with a mid 65x/65x lift cam?

please guide me toward the right head choice for me, thanks guys!!

Your budget margin is way too wide. If you are willing to spend money for GOOD heads, get them, unless you like doing things twice. For instance, get some budget heads for maximized potential is great for the short run but misses full power on your cam and bottom end. Spend money now and never have to worry about them if you go with name brand products. I bought 243 heads to port and polish the crap out of. AI TEA AFR are some good companies that port. P&P 241 surpass stock 243 heads, P&P 243 out flow anything stock. Search some threads and review combos members have set up. The biggest valve on a stock bottom end? Well what kind of cam lobes and are you willing to cut reliefs on pistons?

No I want to leave the bottom end alone, I was thinking something around ms3 cam or similar to it. Is that to much for a stock bottom end?

241 heads are a great budget head. With a little bit of work, you can get them performing better than the 243/799 heads for just as much, if not less money.

The 243/799 heads, however, are a better head to start with, so if a full porting treatment is in the plan, they are the better value.

Now, if you can afford a set of aftermarket castings, like some TFS or AFR heads, then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them over any of the OEM castings.

You could also fit a really big valve in the stock LS1 bore, but everyone has an opinion about how big you should put in there. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate with a 2.125" or bigger intake valve.
