Default 220 224 cam question

I was given this slightly used cam it is a 220 224 581 581 on a 113.
I have a stock 5.3 motor I plan to go carbed on to put in a 67 c10. However I may be able to get a 99 ls1 motor and tranny fairly cheap.
Question is will this cam work on a 5.3 as a daily driver with a 700r4 2200 stall and 3.73 gears. or is it better suited for an injected 5.7?
thanks in advance

It's a little on the small side for the 5.7, but should work well in the smaller 5.3.

Default it will work awesome

that cam will work awesome for either setup, you will probably get many people that will tell you it is small, and by specs it is compared to whats out there. but most people around here are looking at all out #s and most are also driving lighter cars and can sacrifice the low end tq for the top end hp. for an old heavy truck that will be optimum. and a hell of a lot more fun to drive than a big thumper that surges and farts all the time. it also will work fine with that stall. many people who lay down big whp #s get there rear handed to them by cars with less power. the important thing is to remember how your going to drive the truck, where you will spend the most time in the rpm band and make it pull the hardest in that area! and if its the sound your after well here you can hear mine and its a smaller cam than yours! I now have a tune and it sounds pretty much the same just no hunting. ( I thought because it was small it would not lope boy was I wrong!)

thanks for the response.
I am curious Rob? what cam did u go with? specs?
I also have a 212 218 558 563 on a 115 sitting here.
could go either way/. probably the smaller cam is better suited for the 5.3 .
My goal is just a smooth driver with decent power
thanks again bpatrol.

thats a good cam for either motor. it is a DD worthy cam and will provide good all around power. the 212 cam is better suited for the FI guys.
