Default Patriot heads yes or no?

Hey guys I am looking into a pair of heads and was wondering what you guys thought of the stage 2 5.3 heads from Patriot? I will be going with the TSP 231/237 as far as a cam. Would this be a good combo? Otherwise let me know some other good combos that come to your mind that will make good power thanks a lot.

There are some guys putting down some pretty serious power with that heads/cam set up. Patriot heads seem to be doing failry well so far

With that cam and a set of Patriot LS6 styles I made 451rwhp and 404rwtq back last year with all belts, no electric wp, and no ported TB... all on a TSP mail order tune.

Yep I am getting a 9" and was thinking the 4.30 gears, then run a 27" ET Street or would I need 28"?

you want to go with the smallest tire you can for less rolling resistance, weight and such...the 27" probably would be fine...but ask around to see where you'll be crossing the traps with that combo of gears, power & tires before you make your decision.

Both me, and a friend, ran a 9'' with 4.30 gears and 27'' Hoosier QTPs and that was pretty much dead on for our H/C cars. Just off the top of my head I believe you can cross the traps at like 128 maybe with a 6800 rpm, but I may be mistaken - its been awhile.

Loko into the "hand finished" Stage 2 5.3's being offered by Patriot now. They're supposed to make 10cfm more than the standard off the shelf CNC'd.

Sounds like a good combo. I'm going with the 5.3s also for my TR224 cam. I'm hoping for 425+ rwhp after Mikey tunes my car again. Search the dyno forum as their are a few cars with your same setup making good power.

Do you have any new Dyno numbers or 1/4 mile passes with your new setup?

how much of a difference HP wise is 10cfm going to make with the added cost of the $400 hand finishing? is it really worth it???

it depends really on if thats just peak or how much it helps lower in the lift ie .200-.500 as well otherwise eh...for me if the $400 doesnt include the larger valves I dont think its worth it.
