Spun bearing solution
Spun bearing solution Hello guys, quite a few months back my ls1 spunned a bearing ever since I started working on building a new engine for FI, but it seems its going to take quite some time with trying to build the engine...well idk the extend of the damage or how many bearings were spunned but if the bearing messed up and there is just some scratches on the crank and/or rod can I technically just replace the bearing with a new set and pray that I can drive the car as is. I know tha crank or rod will need to be polish if the damage wasn't that bad, but this engine is not my priority right now, but the car has been sitting for too long and there is a family of rats in my engine bay 
and if its possible I can just flush the engine with some cheap oil and run thick oil lie rotella T6 or vr1 20w?

Not always if the crank is not marked badly then a quick rub with very fine sand paper to remove high spots and new set of bearings will get you on your way providing the bearing hasn't grabbed the side of the rod, the engine will have to be completely stripped but doesn't have to be removed unless the crank is damaged and needs grinding

Wow 420 much? And I would try to get a measurement of the rod with the cap on it and the crank journal that corresponds with the damaged rod bearing, measurements can be done in car but if the measurements are out of spec out comes the motor

Depending on how bad the bearing is spun is another, It could of just knocked the tabs off and squeaked occasionally, and possibly eat into the block. Same concept if the rods are ok, and hopefully its not bad enough the bearing stacked and will make the rod end out of round as well as the crank chewed up.
Honestly nobody can give a spot in scenario response as a spun bearing has so many possibilities with the same end result.
Hell this is a SBC I bought a few years back, the engine didn't make a peep when I heard it test run, But when I opening it to gasket and oil pump the motor this is what I found.
