Default another 383 stroker build

Hey guys, I hail from the 350z forums and I've been looking into doing an ls1 swap and build into my 05z.
I've been snooping around here for about a week or two and I've decided on doing a ls1 383 stroker with a 11.1 comp I'm looking for roughly 450rwhp daily driver that will see a lot of auto x and road courses,
I'm was wondering what type of heads and cams, intake,tb you would suggest for an engine that will be geared towards midrange grunt and not just peek hp, that can live well with seeing between 6500rpm-7000rpm

some cnc ported stock GM heads will work .trick flow 220 heads ,and texas speed prc 225 cast heads are better flowing .the Texas Speed head works with stock gm rockers .the air flow research 210 head is better yet .

I'm still very unfamiliar with the heads for the p.s. series, liking for a quick explanation is the number for the heads 225 220 210 etc dependent on flow rate? And the lower the number the Bette the flow or in this case is the lower number i.e 210 heads less flow but more geared towards midrange power?
Any suggestions for AFR heads?

It refers to the volume of the intake port. The higher the number "usually" means more peak flow at the cost of velocity. If street driven, you will want to keep the 383 in the 210-215 range. AFR makes great options. If you are after more peak power the 225-235 range is a better option.

Low to midrange grunt is all about port velocity and a properly sized cam. Big heads make BIG power but sacrifice low to mid power/torque. Keep your port size down.

The FAST 102 intake is a great choice but at 383ci you do NOT need or want the 102mm TB. It's a bitch to tune and is just too big. I had/have the 102 on my 346 with 420whp and anything over 60% throttle gave me the same power. 100-102kPa IE atmospheric. A 90-92 is the sweet spot for a sub 390 CI motor that isn't going all crazy max effort.

Are MPG or emissions of any concern to you?

I'd suggest the AFR 210 or 215 heads for the 383. AMAZING torque. A smallish cam will get you there with those heads. Under 230 duration will be enough and have good street manners and good off idle tq which can be helpful in autoX.

Take my motor as an example. The heads are a 220cc port GM casting that was cnc ported. The peak power is there but the tq leaves a bit to be desired. Folks that run the same cam and an AFR 205cc head will probably get another 10hp plus 20-30 more torque. The more HP is due to the superior design of the aftermarket heads. The AFR 205/210 head is also ~$1000 more than a GM cast cnc head.

Tony Mamo did a ls383 build using some AFR heads and a fast 90 intake .he made 550+hp/tq.Texas Speed is a good place to compare prices on the heads mentioned .
