Do I need to rebalance? Please read
I bought a low mileage short block that the owner thought grenaded itself until he pulled the heads. One spark plug broke and bounced around in the cylinder ad chewed up the top of the piston. Miraculously it did not score or eat the cylinder wall.
The bores have been checked and are within spec.
Here's my concern;
I bought new pistons from sealed power. I took out the factory assembled piston and rods and weighed them. With rings, wrist pin, bearings and rod bolts they weigh 1288grams.
My new piston assembly fully dressed weighs 7 grams more. Total weight of 1295 grams.
So will the factory crank have to be rebalanced? I realize that the difference of 7 grams x 8 pistons = 56 grams difference throughout.
Any incite will help as long a you have experience with such a process.
Thanks
Matt
