Last I checked Mahle did not make pistons that will fit the 6.0.. I spoke with the top dogs there a few months ago...just an fyi.

Are you sure that an allbore AL. block is less than an iron 408?

If I were doing an allbore aluminium block, I doubt I'd want to boost it that much. Maybe consider a 427 and do it all motor. That's damn good power on the street and pretty dependable. Add a 100 shot down the road when you get bored with just a 427.

My 2 cents says don't mess with turbos if your budget is tight.

The LONGBLOCK is not costing me that much, but I know someone is at Futral Motorsports right now.. Plus, its going to take a lot of turbo money to beat a 408ci FMS setup with a 200 shot.. You are talking about over 700rwhp/850rwtq on tap..

no brainer 408+turbo+spray!!!

like everyone is saying, turbo's rock but if your on a budget don't go turbo. i bet a turbo set up would cost you close to $10k by the time your done, tuning, fuel system, turbo kit....

408 plus 200 shot. WAY WAY less headaches and expense!

Over 500RWHP on motor and over 700RWHP on spray is going to be a lot of fun

Expect to spnd 20+k for a turbo set-up and 12+k for a solid NOS runner... keep in mind numeous support systems are necessary (fuel, suspention, engine mgt, etc).

Well I've gone the Forged 370 + turbo route. I'm building the kit myself along with a shop here that can do all of my piping for a very good price. I figure EVERYONE has nitrous, so I'd like to be different and go the turbo route. Granted it is freaking expensive but I think it'll be worth it in the long run.

I would say if you are not made of money the n20 would be the way to go. Turbo cars are expensive and finiky. The n20 is pretty consistant. I have done both and I would opt for the 408 w/ the spray. Allthough turbo gen3 small blocks are wayy cool, I think it comes down to what you wallet will let you do, and your true desire. Just my 2 cents.

Ya granted it's expensive but I figure in the back of my head I want the turbo and that would make me the happiest so why not go for it. I mean it's only money right?? lol. I have everything on order and the setup will consist of the following....

Forged 370 w/ 8.6:1 compression
PP Stage 3 LS6 Heads
Custom ground turbo cam
Every bolt on that I had before which is basically everything you can get for a N/A car.

Master Power T70
Tial 40mm Wastegate
Tial 50mm BOV
Turbonetics Boost Controller
Mocal External Electric Oil pump
External Oil filtering system for the turbo
Oil Cooler with mini electric fan
Custom External 2qt Oil sump
60lb Motron Injectors with supporting fuel system
blah blah blah... and the list goes on to include gauges and the various fuel system components.

Hopefully she'll run pretty good

I like the all-motor setup, especially with a forged bottom end. Spray as necessary.

sweet!! i think most of the votes went to nitrous based on ease and cost but if you factor in coolness it may have gone the other way.

I get soooo much attention with my truck because of that turbo. it's not just the cool factor either, with a stock 6.0 and a t76 it is puting out some mad horse power. any futrue hot rod projects for me will include a turbo.

I stock Mahle pistons for forced induction 4.010 bore with 6.125 rod and 3.625 crank 27cc dish.
Also stock for 4 inch crank with 30cc dish.

Vince, if both cars are optimized for drag racing the nitrous car might get out on the turbo car a little in the first half of the track but the turbo would spin the n2o car like a top when it passed it....

I like the coolness factor of a turbo, but if FAST is what you want.. I think the nitrous car is going to win. We can go back and forth, but the tried and true mod has already proven this point over and over again. By adding the comment optimized to the equation you have also optimized the nitrous car. Just look at the MPH of the ARE LS1 Nitrous cars. Compare their MPH of those of turbo'd LS1's. Actually just take a look at the ET list in the drag racing section.

IMHO - It may sound cool to have the turbo, but big cubes sounds nice too Not too many people out there have bigger motors, and hearing that beast rumble would be cool enough for me. Its hard for me to believe that at the track a turbo car would get to spool up enough in 1/4 mile to reel in a 408 with nitrous. I mean the initial hit the 408 is going to be out in front, and at around 700+ rwhp with the spray its going to take alot for the FI car to catch up.
