Default LS2 cam in 2007 LR4 4.8L?

Looking at 12574519 Ls2 cam $125.00 shipped
12499224 LS6 springs set of 16 $ 75.92 shipped
ACDELCO Part # 2133826 cam sensor $ 34.27
DORMAN Part # 635515 LS2 cover includes seals $55.42
Shipping for cover and sensor $ 9.96

Total $ 300.57

Not bad for cam springs, and gaskets?

I think the cam specs out at 204/211 @ 0.050" 0.525"/0.252" lift on 116LSA base circle 1.552"

My stock 2007 LR4 cam 12560967 hopefully the same base circle?

According to GM my cam gear is the three bolt with 1x cam gear already, so that should make it as simple as relocating the wires to the front, and using a LS2 cover/sensor.

Stock push rods ok to use? According to rock auto they are 7.3180" long, the same as a Trailblazer SS (LS2 cam) and 06 GTO LS2 cam.

I'm excepting a little bit of a loss in the low range. and hoping to make lots of power above 3000rpm. I have a GTO T56, so no need for a 3000 rpm stall converter, but I might need a stage 2 clutch. (right now stock LS1 F-body LUK clutch)

Thanks for your help guys!

One last thing Will the GM Acdelco F-body water pump clear the LS2 cam sensor?

I don't like a lumpy sounding cam, so I'm hoping this is a middle of the road cam for me. I spend 70% of the time driving between 1200 and 3500 rpm. And maybe 20% of the time between 2000-6300 rpm, the rest mixed! I do like to hammer on it!

Is 6300 rpm good for a 4.8L? My tuner tells me the motor will handle 6500!

How did this turn out? Did you get it installed?

Where did you get the cam for $125

In a 5.3l
The odd thing about the LS2 test was that this was the only factory cam with which we experienced valve float. Unlike all the other cams, the LS2 did not rev cleanly to 6,500 rpm, so we limited the peak power difference to 6,200 rpm.
The 4.8l may want more rpm and would in that case need even more spring. They said the springs were already "upgraded" so they were either LS6 already or a low pressure aftermarket.

The idea the OP had about using LS6 spring definitely was not going to work. Keep in mind you need to rev past peak 3-500rpm depending on tranny ratios, stall and the torque curve.

IMO I would not put the LS2 cam in a 4.8l, it is just so much smaller, I might consider a late LS1/LQ9 cam with a stall.
