Default '00 6.0 (long crank) build questions

I have a '00 LQ4 that has the longer style crankshaft. I'm going to do a budget build for boost. My questions are:

Is this longer crankshaft just as strong as any other LS engine?

I have LS3 rods that I want to use, will they work with the LQ4 pistons?

Last question, are the '00 LQ4 pistons good enough for 700+hp?

1. Yes

2. LS3 Rods will not work with the 00 LQ4 pistons. You need 05 up LQ4 Pistons.

The LS3 rods are designed for a floating pin. The 00- early 04 pistons in an LQ4 use a Press pin. 05 and later on the LQ4 use a floating pin.

3. Depends on how good your tune is. Several truck guys run them up around the 1000 mark.
