Default 2004 Silverado blowing smoke

Hi all,

My dad has a 2004 Silverado with a 5.3L and is blowing blue/white smoke on start up. The truck is burning 2qts of oil for ever 1000 miles and 1/2 a gallon of antifreeze every 3000 miles.

Anyone know what the problem would be? Valve seals/head gasket???

2004 had castech heads that we're know for cracking and mystery coolant loss
As for the oil burning I would say that's a separate issue ... Do you run synthetic oil ??
Remove the rocker rails and check for the castech death symbol.under neath Check out the pic ..for where it located

Not just cast tech heads. Wifes tahoe had the other casting number heads, i dont remember what # is off of the top of my head but they had no castech marks and were cracked.

they say if they haven't gone by 100k miles you likely didn't have the shitty heads... I've heard of the castech before but never seen any trucks with the issues personally
