anyone with A tsp torquer v2 cam?
The 228r tried to die constantly whenever you pushed the clutch in, even after taking it back to the tuner 3 times. It was annoying, but it was due to the tune. I replaced the 228r with the v3 because I wasn't happy with the 228r's smooth-ish idle and it worked out as the v3 still had good mid range power. The v3 actually had less parking lot bucking and surging due to having a better tune I'm guessing. The v3 bucked somewhat while cruising bellow 1500rpm in 5th. The VRX5 would buck pretty good up until 1500rpm while cruising in 5th gear... Then from 1500 up to 1800 there was intermittent, light bucking. It was kind of annoying because it was my daily driver back then.
In my ls1 Trans Am I now have a 228/236 112lsa with comp Xer lobes. Idle is a little choppy but not choppy enough. About to upgrade to a something bigger in the ls1 just for fun while I get a 383 going. It's a M6 with factory rear end and gearing.
The 228/236 cam that's currently in the Trans Am doesn't buck while cruising. But it does buck in parking lots (just like every other cam I've had), but only if you coast in first gear and let it decelerate to 1,000 rpm. When it starts to buck you just push the clutch in, let your speed decrease, and let it back out with some gas pedal and drive. It's very easy to get used to. Also, eery now and then the rpms will dip down when turning sharply into parking lots but it doesn't die. I just hit the gas a bit whenever my foot can come off the brake. It's all in the tune, but it's at an acceptable level to me so I've left it as-is. Some stuff can't be tuned out. My Trans Am isn't my daily driver so drivability isn't a big of a concern as it used to be.
Anyways, let us know what you decide and don't forget valve springs!
