I'm trying to do a motor swap on my 98 Camaro. Just swapping one LS1 for a fresh LS1 any tips on how to do it with out a lift? I do have a good size jack, motor hoist "cherry picker", and Large jack stands. Thanks.

There should be some videos on Youtube I believe. Its pretty simple to drop the motor. I normally drop the motor and trans together, alot easier to bolt them back together outside the car.

I just did this on a 2002 camaro. Go to harbor freight and buy the wheeled furniture dolleys. Disconnect all the top stuff, tank radiator, exhaust, etc. Then jack the car up and set it on jack stands on the frame. Using two floor jacks, one under engine and one under tranny, remove the I member and trans crossmember. Then slowly lower the motor and trans onto the furniture dolley using some 2x4's to span across it. After the engine is down, use a floor jack on both sides with a 4x4 and jack the car up high enough to roll out the engine and trans.
