Did the shop end up replacing the valve seals during all this?

1 Cause hind site is 20/20. He might have heard a slight ticking and figured it was from valvetrain noise, stainless headers, or injectors.

2 The tech probably put the car together and noticed that the noise was more pronounced than before and pulled the valve cover back off to investigate. JMHO. Eric L

Maybe true but leaky header and engine knock from bearings should be easily destinguishable to a tech......yea the replaced them......I'm not laming them but not ruling it out......I might take it to gm when it gets here......don't knock sensors hear stuff like this

Knock sensors are tuned to hear a very limited frequency. That way they can hone in on spark knock and not get as much false knock.

This is why I don't let anyone drive my car without me in it. NO test drives, I've had too many bad experiences in the past. Last time I trusted a shop and left the car it cost me over 5k.

My guess is they didn't find a problem until after they did some of the work. When they told you it would be done in 30 minutes I would assume the motor was still being worked on and after they completed the work they fired it up and found there were more problems.
