That way, you can get a real world idea of how the car is going to drive and make an informed decision from there.
Yeah..I havent drove an LS with a cam...but am used to the buck and surging at low speeds on a fully built cammed supra (2JZ-GTE, singled)
, so I imagine it would be about the same. (it really sucked when you turned on AC....and this was untuned as well)

A lot of people assume that the MS3 makes more midrange over the MS4 given the cam specs are a little smaller. In actuality it's quite opposite. When the MS3 cam first came out people complained that it was hard to drive and wanted a max effort cam with a little better driveability and a little more in the midrange. That's where the MS4 comes into play. It has a more aggressive intake lobe with higher lift and the cam is also ground on a tighter lobe separation. Doing this brings the torque curve in sooner and gave the people what they wanted out of a max effort cam. The MS3 is better suited for a max effort nitrous application and the MS4 is best for a max effort NA application. That's not to say you cannot use either cams for the other application. That is just what is optimal. I hope this clears a few things up over that.

Sorry to hijack but how does the S15 231/237 differ from the rest? I'm in the cam market and looking around and might be going this route. Car is a daily and will be adding a LS6 and 3600 stall. Will this cam work best with my particular set up or you have other recommendations? Thanks in advance, Lonnie.

Same cam as the MS3 but with an HUC lobe on the intake. That should work well for you.

HUC meaning? sorry im not familiar with that acronym.

I know that HUC is easier on valvetrain. How do you determine by seeing the specs what lobe style they are?

LXL doesn't have a 237 lobe. They go from 234 directly to 238. The lobe duration and lift tells me what type of lobe it's on. I just know it from my personal experience in speccing and selling many camshafts or you could simply look at Comps lobe catalog online and compare.

Lol, I don't know how I missed that one. Well I'm going to blame it on the fact that I had to turn my head sideways to view the cam card haha. That would be an LXL lobe then.

I thought you said " I don't want to be changing and buying springs every 5k miles"? You will have to at least check the springs periodically.

Common sense, you have it. Please continue sharing it! The dinosaur cam comments are comical and sad at the same time.
