I need to install some new Yella Terras and need to know what is the best position for the engine to be in to do this. Now note, the heads have been installed already and we don't remember where the TDC piston is or was. I just need to know what position to put the engine in and how to tell it's there. I want to make sure I get this right.
I just changed my own oil starting last summer and now I'm doing a head, cam, oil pump, timing chain, rockers, intake, throttle body, and N2O install. So I'm a little worried about not getting it right. I have no mwchanical experience so please break it down Barney style if you can and forgive my ignorance. JMX's LS1howto.com is what I've used so far to and it is great info but now I'm stuck. Thanks.

There's no set position. I've always just torqued the rockers wherever the motor was at. Install the rockers, tighten to 22 ft. lbs., then rotate the motor by hand a few times and tighten again.

I installed them with the shims and hand tightened them till the pushrods got tough to turn then torqued them to 22ft/lbs. I only got about 1/4 - 1/2 turn out of each pair. There are however 2-3 rockers per side were the pushrod can still be turned. It is tough to turn but it can still be done by hand. How bad is this and is there any suggestions on how to fix it? Help!
