stroker kit?

stroker kit? hey everyone, i have afew questions. What exactly does a stroker kit do? does it give you more power or does it just strengthen the motor? I am trying to figure out if i should put 1 in my 4.6l dohc 2004 mach 1. ( i do have a 2002 slp firehawk to , so dont hate me for havin a mach,lol). if it does increse the power how much does it increase? what r the advantages and disadvantages of getting bigger stroker kits and of getting them at all. thanks everyone

382ci. using stock 3.898in bore, 4.0in. stroke
383ci. honing the cylinder out to 3.903in, 4.0in. stroke
395ci. honing the cylinder out to 3.903in, 4.125in. stroke
408ci. will require a larger bore diameter of 4.030in
I hope this helps you out...I don't know that much about the 281 but hopefully this gets you on the right track...

You better start looking at the firehawk cause the mach would be very expensive to stroke. Also adding cubic inches means you need all the other parts such as heads, intake, headers, etc. etc. Strokers are fun, and as far as mileage is concerned, it will probablly be better because your set-up will be able to move air more efficentlly. Considering you keep your foot out of it.

well i saw a 393 stroker kit for about 2 grand, r u saying that i couldnt stroke it and have everything else stock? i know the 393 is pretty high up there but im just givin an example. lets say i got the 393 stroker kit, would i have to replace anything else at that moment or would i be fine for a while? can u give any kind of estimate on the hp and tq i would gain? mine comes with 305 hp and like 320 or 315 tq

The only real way to make those Mod-Motors go fast is to build 'em and boost 'em. The down-side to that is that by the time you get done building the motor, buying the blower setup, buying the fuel system, buying a real engine management system, and paying for install/tuning, you'll realize that you could be going just as fast for a lot cheaper.
