Should I install this cam? I picked up some ported and polished 243s that came with a cam. The specs on the cam are 228/234 .588/.598 115+3. I have long tubes, manual trans, ls6 intake and TB, and of course the ported 243s with comp 918 springs and stock ls6 valves. I would like to keep good midrange torque and stay NA.
There are a lot of 114 LSA cams with far less intake/exhaust split than that cam, so if mid range is what you want, I think that cam will be just fine. The good things about these LS engines is you can throw pretty much any cam in there and it's going to be an improvement. It may be a little out of the ordinary, but should be fine. Where did you get it from? I think it was probably designed as a boost friendly cam.
