Ditched the D1....how will this cam work n/a?
Hey guys, been a while since i've had an n/a car so thought i'd ask for some input on what to expect with the cam in the motor til i figure out what i'm gonna do with the car exactly.
Here's the rundown....
Currently its a forged 347", about 9.5:1cr, 241 heads, ls1 intake, stock injectors, swapping to a 4l60e and slipping in a new converter that would be for a trailblazer SS (about 1900 stall... just avoiding a higher dollar converter for now til i know the direction i'm going with the car), Mid length headers, no cats, magnaflow, 3.73's, 3700# with me.
Any thoughts on how this will perform in a DD and if i can expect vacuum issues even after it's tuned would be appreciated....thanks!

That's a decent cam for NA. Although it would really like 11 to one compression for sure. If you can mill the heads and run thin head gaskets for a pretty tight quench, then advance it a few degrees so the intake closes @ around 40-41 ABDC. Then that low stall converter would work ok..sorta

currently not looking to open the motor up or i'd give smaller cc heads a shot. i'm hoping it's drivable (not unfamiliar with driving a less than ideal street combo) but really hoping it doesn't stall from lack of vacuum. thanks for the reply!

That cam will have good idle vacuum and will have great driveability. No need to advance it any more, as the intake valve closes early enough at 44 ABDC. But your 9.5 CR is too low for even a stock cam in a NA motor.
I would use a ported 5.3 head milled to 58cc with a .040 cometic gasket. That will raise your CR by 1.479, putting you close to 11.0.

well that's good to hear. will it basically just be a bit of a dog on power or what? i'm likely going to be putting a turbo on it (as was the plan) but decided i wanted to work on my swap project first and put the money into it before doing so.
