383 stroker build I'm am trying to piece my motor ('98 LS1 M6) together into a decent 383 stroker after my oil pump failed on the highway. I made it home but I can hear the damage to the bottom end so I decided to rebuild it better and stronger, but my funds are somewhat lacking. I have already purchased a high flow/pressure melling oil pump (p/n 10296), ls7 lifters, ls2 trays, and the comp cams trunion upgrade kit, but now I want to focus on the bottom end. I can throw another $3,000 into the rebuild and was wanting to go with the Lunati Voodoo kit for ~$2,000. my question is this. Is it possible to build the 383 with stock heads, intake just to get the motor together and upgrade parts as I go? And what are the minimum requirements just to run the 383 kit in an ls1 besides a cam and bigger injectors? Thanks for the help and and advice is appreciated as always. Thanks. -Rich
P.S All assembly work will be done by my associate at work and myself. I have a coworker that builds ecotec motors for midget racing so I trust his abilities, but he just doesn't know anything about LS motors.

cheapest? No, I'm sure I could just have the crank turned, throw in a new set of bearings and be on my way, but we all have to start somewhere and if I have to pull the motor I might as well do the job once and be done with it. Then I can throw in the supporting mods throughout the summer.

Oh, I gotcha. How well would that transplant in as far as physically and wiring harness compatibility?
You can build the shortblock and just swap over all the parts, even the stock cam and valve train if you like.
Keep in mind, which your buddy may not realize, that with the 4" stroke the windage tray will need to be spaced out with washers to clear the rods. This in turn will affect oil pan to pickup clearance, which should always be checked anyways.

I think this is the route I'm going to take. But I had a cam only ls1 that threw a rod ao I can swap in the 232/234 cam and while I got it all apart may mildy port and polish the 241s. Only thing about the tms shortblock and other is if u want to spray or anything apparently u need steel rings and they need to be installed properly for nitrous. I would think with that cam 400whp shouldn't be heard to top seeing as some ppl have hit 400 with stock bottom end
