Default Thinking about Head/Cam...Suggestions please

Dollar for dollar, it looks like LS6 heads, springs, and cam would be the cheapest. Would it be worth it? What kind of gains could I expect from this proposed setup? I would like to get stage 1 or 2 LS6 heads, but the stockers are SO affordable, I almost can't resist.
So far, the mods are as follows-
All free mods
SLP lid
ACCEL Filter
SLP LM
Cutout in I-pipe
Fernco

Will probably get a 3200-3600 stall soon after H/C, and 3.73's as well.
Would I be beter off getting longtubes and ORY first, or would this H/C be worth it?
Thanks in advance!!!!!!

you could get patriot S2 5.7 heads compatible with your 98 perimeter bolt setup you have now & a cam of your choice for like $1500 through tsp...I think that comes with PR's as well? Might be something to look into as stock ls6 heads wouldnt outflow the pp 5.7's

I should also mention that one of the local engine builders (BRE) could do a "stage 1-street port" for fairly cheap. And yeah, the car has 112,000 miles on it now.

great, what do they mean by cheap? What springs, what size valves & what will they flow when its done? Im assuming this isnt your DD, My patriot heads were in my hands in less than a week ready to go on, If they are doing your heads your talking the time it takes you to take them off, send them out and for them to do them to get them back on your car...just something to think about.

we can set you up with a Stage1 set of heads with cam and push rods for $1695.00 plus shipping. also we will refund $250.00 of that if you return your stock heads to us, so final cost would be $1445.00. we are in the Louisville, KY area so are close to you also. a set of stock LS6 heads are not worth the cost IMO.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good deal. With mods in sig. and longtubes/ory with the heads and cam, what do you think hp/performance would be, ballpark? And would a converter be NEEDED with that setup, or just a good idea?

I would not install stock LS6 heads, I would go with something like ForceFed stage 1 heads.

with our stage 1 heads on a 2000 Z28 we have a car making 393rwhp/385rwtq
mods are
LS6 intake
LT headers
Lid
exhaust(forget which one)
smallish cam (207/220 .573/.580 117.5 LSA) LPE GT2-3
3500 stall
running 7.46@93mph in the 1/8

so I would say with a similar setup you could get similar results, with a bigger cam should make even more power.
converter would be a good idea even without heads and cam

Id talk to Forcefed for that price and your goals. Stock LS6 heads will underperform and run you around 900.00 used alone. JMO
