Default Rod identification

I pulled these pistons and rods out of an LQ4 that came from a wrecked '05 Silverado 2500. Can anyone definitively ID them as either pressed or floating? From the research I have done, they visually appear to be the pressed pin rods but I thought that all '05+ motors had floating pin rods? Thanks!

Definitely press fit as they don't have retaining clips.

Yep. Look like the old press fit style. No retaining clips in the pin boss means they're press fit.

That is what I was thinking. Thanks for the affirmation guys. Unfortunately no one is after these rods so I might as well turn them into some type of furniture.

Thanks for the info. Was it rods only or with pistons like I have them?

$70 was for the rods only. They are likely worth less with the OEM pistons still in place, someone still has to remove them.

Isn't it pretty easy to separate them? I have an arbor press that I used for my trunion upgrade, would that work for it?

here's how I did it, not sure if an arbor press would work or not.

That was the idea that I had for doing it but the more I think about it, the less likely it seems I will be able to do it with the armor press. I have maybe 5 inches of space in the press so I doubt I could get that worked out unless I maybe use stacked shallow sockets one at a time to press the pin out. I just hate to get a shop press for something like this. Although a shop press would probably help with the rear end rebuild I want to do sometime soon. And I think HFT has them on sale right now.

Looks like HFT has the 20 ton on sale for 170 and I can get another 20% off that so if they have one in stock I might just go for that. I thought about the 12 but I don't know if that one would be sufficient for everything suspension and rear end related.

I got the 20 ton unit at HF and have been pleased with it. I also use it when rebuilding pool pumps. It has a fully welded frame vs the 12 ton model has a bolted frame.

Thanks for that extra info. That makes it worth the extra few bucks then.
