External Oil Primer Home Made - A Pre Lube Option to prevent dry start
Here is a video of my home made external oil primer for LSx motors. It shows the tool in use and pictures of how it was built.
This is an optional way to run oil through you motor to fill all the passenges before start-up if it has been sitting a long time or is a new build. It'd also test the oiling systm's pressure to make sure it holds oil pressure before install.
This oil primer was built with the LSx motors in mind since we are not able to spin the oil pump on the motor to prime it like on old SBC. This device will push oil into the motor as if the oil pump was working.
I made this with large PVC pipe that I had acquired. It isn't the cheapest option if you have to purchase it. You may consider using your own container. Maybe a propane tank or some other. Use you're imagination.
I'll post up the pictures from this video later, once I get home.

Thank you gentlemen! I hope this helps in the future. Maybe when trying to explain what "priming the system" is or helping to feed the imagination while creating their own primer.

You know I was worried about that at first too, but this plastic is rated at some crazy PSI. Dont remember what it was, but was extreme like 600 PSI. Maybe some plumbers are on here and will give there input on that. I've taken this to 100 and let it sit in the garage overnight. So far so good.

haha man its going in next weekend. I was going to start it this weekend, but decided I shouldn't do that to my wife on Mothers Day. I won't be driving it for about two months though probably. I've got vacation and other things to take care of in the middle of the swap.

Hey good job there!
I just use a Canton 3qrt Accusump wired through a soleniod & a switch on my steering column.
I tend to just leave it on all the time accept when i need the ignition on & not start the engine.
Easy as, just turn on the ignition, watch oil pressure build on my oil gauge to around 25psi & start the engine, plus the system will always feed the oil into the galleries if the sump has surge & no oil pick up.
