Doing a 5.3/4l60e swap in a 96 Camaro with a 3600 stall and 3.73 gears. This is going to be a junkyard/cheapo build. Keeping the truck intake etc. If I did some arp rod bolts/new clevite main/rod bearings do you think this little 5.3 straight out of a truck could take a 175 shot? And if so what's a good blower cam for it?
The 96 Camaro is gutted, weighs in at 2400 lbs right now with no motor/trans.

I would think you could make a stock 5.3 live, and live quite well, on a 175 shot. Just make sure the tune is good, and that you are reading plugs accordingly. As far as a nitrous friendly cam, something along the lines of a 227/235 on a 113 LSA would be good. Really, unless you plan on spraying over a 250 shot, a nitrous specific cam isn't needed.
