Just picked up Lq9 for my 79 Fairmont Futura. This car is to be daily driver. Under 3000lbs, 3 0r 4 speed auto. Nothing higher than 3.23 gear. Ls6 intake. 2010 Camaro manifolds. Trying to decide if I should do a cam swap. Thought about ls6 cam. Maybe leave stock cam? What hp gains will ls6 cam gain? Any suggestions?

 

Decide on a tranny first. What is OK for a daily driver with some non-lockup 3 speed isn't going to have anywhere near the potential you could have with say a 4L60E with a lockup 3200stall.

Overdrive and lockup will allow you to put a real gear in it.

If you want 3.23 3 speed and stock stall then leave the engine stock.
