I was originally going to freshen up my last motor, but instead decided to upgrade it a little. My old motor was a Ls1 block, GTP 5.3 heads and a TR230/224 cam. I sold the old motor a month ago. In fact sold it one day =) My new motor will be completed next Wednesday and will be going in the car next Saturday. The new motor is still a stock Ls1 block with a stock crank so its still 346ci. But the rest is a complete custom job, very radical. The specs are something I was thinking about trying for a long time, but it just so happen the class I will fall in will be Factory Stock, will still be running N/A. See my last motor with the 230/224 was my daily driver turned into a bracket racing car, that happened to start running 10.60-10.70 after I got all the suspension installed and dialed in. I'm basically taking the same car and putting more of a race motor in there than a street motor. I'll post the details on everything soon, still need to get the motor in the car, tune it and get back to the track.

Also...anyone have a dyno graph of this cam(218/229)? I know the 230/224 only really pulls on a 224/224 due to the high revs. But i bet this has good midrange torque like the hotcam(same duration) and of course more top end(more lift than hot cam)

In my opinion running a cam with .560 lift on LS6 springs is crazy and careless. The springs really have nothing to do with being streetable. The lift on the cam determines what kind of valve spring your gonna need. I'm not positive on LS6 spring specs but if they are even rated that high I don't see them lasting long on that lift. Good luck with it. Your gonna need a light car to come close to his times with the same combo.

I don't know exactly what the limits of the LS6 springs are but I at least know that they're ok for .583 lift but not .600. Jayson Cohen and I were discussing the late model LS6 cam/springs the other day and he commented that I should use no higher rocker ratio than 1.8 with those springs. That would have the lift at .583.

Yeah I'd probably put some money in savings to pay for new valves running those springs at that level. But that is just me MHO. Springs are too cheap to run something like that once again MHO.
