Default Good valve springs??

I'm using the .550 lift LS6 cam in my 5.3 turbo project. What valve springs do you guys suggest? I have heard the tried and true PAC 1218's, what else is out there??

IMO, the PAC 1218s are more than enough with a LS6 cam. BTR dual valve spring are a excellent choice, but are really overkill with the LS6 cam. If you're set on getting dual springs, then get the BTRs.

If you do not plan on going to a bigger cam I would run the 1215's.

There are a lot of people selling valve springs with their name on them. But there are very few companies actually making them. Companies like Lingenfelter design the springs specifically for their application, and then have a company like PAC mac them. I use PAC, as I believe them to be the best on the market. I buy directly from PAC, so I know what I'm getting.

I like beehive springs. I've been using them on my race car for years. GM uses them almost exclusively. Very stable and light weight.

The LS6 cam really doesn't need much spring. Stock GM springs will last about forever.

BUT, a forced induction application requires more spring pressure. Otherwise the pressure from the incoming fuel:air charge will hold the valves open and cause floating. That's a bad thing. Stepping up to more pressure to something like a 1218 is an excellent idea.

Duals will not save your motor from catastrophic failure and to boot they're a lot harder on the cam and lifters and have unneeded weight in the valvetrain. Duals have a time and place to be used but it's not here.

Anything not on hard lobes or under .630 lift a good beehive is the best option. I would look into pac 12xx series or the PSI 1511's which is what I run. The PSI's are what gm performance uses and are the only beehive springs to my knowledge with a 0 documented failure rate.

You are correct, but he sells other springs. If the OP calls him, he can get what he needs for a good price. I was not specifically recommending his dual spring be the one purchased.

Brian is correct. We are no longer making 1500 series (beehive) springs. Our RPM series has just as good of a fatigue life as the 1500 and handles stresses better. Plus we can manufacture them cheaper which means you guys get a spring that performs as good at a cheaper cost.
