Used 241 heads, Basic & Performance machining should I have completed??
I have a set of used 241 heads I recently bought. I have done a valve job and cleaned up all the gum and gunk that was on them. As in valve job I mean I just used cousrw and fine valve grinding paste and just grinder the seat. All the valves have good margin left and now they are nice a smooth fit. One of the valves is hard to pull thru the seal.. feels like it gets jammed up. And some of the valve guides feel gritty and move rough in the guides.. what machine work do I NEED to have done before install and what performance upgrades can or should I have done to them before install.. I'm supposed to be dropping heads off in a few hours so I hope I get very timely replies.. Thank you in advance for all of each individuals advice and comments.. thank you much.. Heads are going on a brand new, never run late model aluminum LS1/LS6 block I purchased from Summit Racing.. also, this engine is going in a 02 S-10 ZR5 crew cab.. will be a daily driver, but I would like to get max streetable daily driver horsepower out of it.. No other parts have been purchased yet such as intake, exhaust to nothing.. just heads and block is all I have.. not gonna stroke it. Will be using stock crank and stock dimensions

If you think lapping constitutes a valvejob, and bought a new LS6 shortblock and are aiming for max daily driver HP you are so wildly off course you NEED to shelve the project till you have some better understanding of what makes HP.
The fact you dismiss stroking it but also fail to even discuss porting is another clear sign you need to shelve this for now.
Wouldn't surprise me if you did more harm than good with your "valvejob".
If the guides are marginal how would they hold the valve square enough to lap properly?
Heads are arguably the most important part of a combo HP wise and unported 241s are not going to get you there, they at least need porting and a proper valvejob.
