Default Well, the time finally got here

I bought my '98 in '07 with 149k miles on it. Now it has a few hundred over 240k and have gotten a rod bearing rattle when not under load or on power but in that one spot where you would hear it.

Going to go with a full build instead of going back stock, already have a set of 243 heads and a 228r cam on the way, going to pick up some 7.4 pushrods, long tubes, off road y-pipe, etc etc....the standard stuff on a build and get it to a buddies shop around the 25th of this month to get the motor out and he and I do his magic on it. Going to go through the 6-speed as well since it started having some shifting issues. Car already has an LS7 clutch setup in it that I installed about 2 possibly 3 years ago, I honestly don't remember.

This should make for a fun DD and not break my bank on mileage. I'll post pics as the build progresses.

Not for sure yet, until I get the car down to Cleveland and we get the motor out. The things I bought were suggestions by him that I can get in now and not have to wait on the parts. He's built a bunch of LS motors and trust what he suggests. This will be the first LS motor I've built so just going with his recommendations.

Well, 4 months later and finally got the motor back in the car and driving. Kept the stock long block, had to turn the crank 10/10 but the pistons and rods checked out with no issues. Only had to hone the block, the cylinders were still in spec. Put in a Comp Cam custom grind that I got from on here that was ground to 228r spec. 243 heads and LS6 intake with the Speed Engineering 1/3/4 long tubes with off-road y-pipe. Motor has around 400 miles on it now so I really haven't dogged on it much, but when I'm in it, I like it. I re-pinned the '98 harness to go into a '99+ PCM that apparently had a base tune for a 228r in it according to who I bought it from on this site and it fired up with no issues at all. I'll have to get it re-tuned (or put the plastic tank from the 2000 parts car I have) to get the fuel gauge working, as it shows Full all the time and to fix some small things with it running as I don't know the heads/intake/ Fuel injector size etc etc that this PCM came from, but I'm happy, very happy about it.

Now I just hope I don't destroy the 10 bolt in it haha.
