promaxx patriot performance heads?
Do some searches on here. Give yourself a budget and find the best you can get at a given price point.
If you can squeeze $2k out of heads you have quite a few options.
Never buy cheap parts, they're too expensive.
I went down the path of buying heads enticed by the cheap price. Yes I had read all the bad views before buying but thought for the price surely they gotta be better than standard heads.
Paid $650 for a bare set of the ls1 pro-comp (or speed master). I could tell straightaway out of the box they were not the best. CNC job was poor. Parts had even been missed by the CNC tool totally.
So I sent them off to my local cylinder head guy. The port sizes were all inconsistent sizes for starters, so plunge cutting was required to equal the port sizes. A 3 angle valve job was performed, stainless 2.02 and 1.55 valves fitted, A lot of blending into the seats was also done. The heads were then flowed.
All up it was $2000 invested into the heads, assembled ready to bolt on.
The results were 270/194 cfm - 565hp potential flow.
For $2000 I could have got MUCH better heads that would have out flowed these ones by at least 30cfm.
The gain from cam only to heads was from 359hp to its current 373hp at wheels.
14hp for $2000!!!!!??????!!!!!
So if patriot are similar or use same cast, or same CNC program DONT BUY THEM.
Dart, trick flow, AFR or send 243's to TEA.
