Default LS1 Piston Replacement- Need Help!

I have two LS1s, one with bad rods and good pistons, and the other with good rods and bad pistons. Can I put the good pistons on the good rods myself, or do I need to take them somewhere?

Also, what about heating the rod and freezing the pin? Is that not the preferred method?
