I have Comp 918's with a Comp 228/224-.588"/.581"-112 XER lobe cam. The cam adn springs have a little over 35k miles on them and that's with an M6 and 4.30 gears. The 12 bolt has been in for the last 22k miles. The rev limiter is set at 6800rpm and the motor has seen that plenty of times. My Harlan shift light probably needs the bulbs replaced.
No problems as of yet- knock on wood....

I pushed that engine to it's 6750rpm shift every day.
I was astounded how long they lasted.
The ramp on an XER is even more sever in my case as I had 595 lift (0.350" lobe)with 1.7 rockers and we thought well lets try some 1.8's and that's why I had 630 lift, the 1.8's also increased the ramp speed. H velocity cams chew springs.
Pro stockers with a bout 1" lift can chew a set in a pass.

I've got over 50,000 Miles on my Comp 918's now! I have a comp 216/220 .579 .589 114 +4 cam and daily drive this beast and spin it 6700 rpm all the time. I've got at least 300+ passes on them and drive it 120 miles/day. lol They things are bulletproof. No valve float whatsoever. I've dyno'd it a few months ago and didn't have any float and didn't lose any RWHP over when I first installed them. It consistantly runs the same MPH in the 1/8th and 1/4. I'm running 4.10's as well! You can ask anyone in the southern section, I drive the wheels off this car too!

m1key99WS6 --> That is awesome man.
I have the TSP 228R (.588) and the Comp 987's. I now have 8k with no valve float.
Gonna shoot for 15k and have them tested unless I see evidence of weakening.

I've got about 25k on my 918 blue stripes with my 228 XER cam. Daily driven, even in the winter. Car's driven hard on the street, but only raced a few times a year at the track. 6600 rpm rev limit. I havent checked spring pressure, but I will be doing so this summer. So far no valve float.

The T/A has 11,500 miles on my set up over the last 18 months.
224 XE-R cam with 987 dual springs.
Street usage and 4.10 gears.
Rev limit is set at 6,800 rpm but I always shift at ~6200 to 6300 because I make peak power at 5900 rpm.
I plan to change springs at ~18,000 miles or 12 months. I know that cautious but valve springs are cheap compared to having an incident.
The RS will have dual 978's and I'm not sure about the cam WAR will use yet.

Comp XER 230/236 here. .592/.602 on a 114+4l. A little over 600 miles on the new motor. They are Patriot Duals and i plan on checking and replacing them at 10,000 miles if needed. Like stated above they are way cheaper then replacing a motor.

EDIT.. I just called TSP and they said they just pulled a set of PP Dual springs and tested them and they were still the same spec as when they were made. They told me there should be no reason they shouldnt last 50K miles.

222/224 .571"/.571" 114LSA XE-R cam
I went 14k miles on single Erson valvesprings with titanium retainers, 4 or 5 trips to the track and daily driver (with an occasional, well frequent romp on the way to work).
Just had a new set of Erson singles put in with my engine refresh, just to be on the safe side. They're holding up great.

I bought these valvesprings used with 3k on them or so. I have since put 3k more on them. I do not have titanium retainers. Next weekend I will be driving the car 500 more miles.. should be pretty close to 7k on them by then.

Wow, 50,000+ miles! This thread is starting to prove what I've been telling people for a long while.
If you'll use really good springs there is one less excuse to go with a wimpy cam lobe (which sacrifices both power and idle quality.) The valvesprings have caught up with the cams.

After testing my 918s and finding them low on pressure I thought about buying a set of Crane Duals but instead went with a set of Patriot 5.3s that come with the Gold Duals @ Titanium retainers so now I'm set. After talking to Matt at TSP I figure these springs will damn near last forever with my measely .561 lift cam.

I've eclipsed 10K w/ my 987's and FMS cam (which has MUCH more aggresive lobes than XE-R). In comparison, the 10K with these lobes would be an easy 15-20K on an XE-R lobe judging from what I have compared my cam card with. If my lil ole POS 987's can do it this long, a good set of Cranes should go 40K easy....
A properly setup valvetrain, good springs(good seat pressure, ~360-400 open), and properly adjusted valves should last a long time regardless of the cam lobe (unless of course you're doing something retarded big).
