Default LS3 no Crank Key?

I am a little confused about these LS Dampers/Balancers. They appear to be lighter on one side because there are more holes drilled on one side. Common sense seems like they should be located at a certain point on the crank rotation. Are you supposed to just install and not worry about where the light side is located? Also I removed mine off a brand new LS3 crate motor, do I need to buy a new bolt before installing it? Thanks Much

it dose not matter on clocking the balancer .you should use a new bolt for a balancer install .I recommend using a proper install tool .or heat it up a little in the oven and slide it on .check out more threads for a method that you like best .

The holes that are drilled are for balancing to a neutral state. When you removed the balancer bolt, that bolt is technically "done", since it is a torque-to-yield fastener. A new GM one is cheap, or go with an ARP bolt that you can reuse.
