i thought you already surpassed the 480rwhp threshold . with that 436 i'd look at nothing less then some STG 3 heads.

Every ones "Stages" are diffrent. It all depends on the amount of flow and the charecteristics of the head. The cam is somewhat tame for a 436.

I hit 504 rwhp wth my 427. It has LS6 S2 (yeah right JPR) heads and an A4. It can be done.

i agree with the stage comment. some stage 3 are actually stage 2 in some shops. it just depends on the balance of the combo. the flow numbers, the velocity, and the matching camshaft and valve timing.

480 rwhp with no dyno tricks in an a4 (with big convertor) is tough.

designations for heads are all different. Look at cc's (intake and exhaust) valve size, flow numbers @28inches on the bore your motor will be using.

BTW I think it is definitely possible

Well, I ask this because ARE just finished rebuilding my heads this week. But they told me that they think they are stage II. I thought for a 436 stroker you should have the best breathing heads possible to get the most from the engine. Like 325-330cfm. A stage II (from ARE) flows around 300-305, their best guess without a flow bench check.

I was just concerned whether or not it should get ported more before its assembled.

But it did do 480 RWHP through my A4 and with a cam that is supposedly tame 1 1/2 years ago, and thats without a full pull. It only went to 5,000 rpm on the dyno.

So should I just not worry about it?

Thanks.

AND HOLY HELL...Thanks to ARE for what they've done so far

How big was your cam and what was your compression?

Pump gas?

RWTQ?

Cam is 242 242 .612 112
CR is 11.5-1
93 Octane.
I CANT verify any of the dyno info. I was not there when it was done. I belive that JD, JPR and Brian from PCM can not lie all at the same time. I have no reason to believe that BRIAN is lying, but JPR and JD, well thats another story.

I wasn't doubting, just curious. But seeing how the cams are basically identical, I think I may have 11.5:1 compression I'm just not really sure, and you have less cubes, same tranny, and you have 20 more RWHP...it does sound a little fishy.

But also remember, mine pulled 480 at 5,000 rpm, so really, I never had a full pull.

So maybe you got yourself a badass engine.

Have you ever been to the track?

I didnt think you were doubting, I AM!!! As for you rpowah, I make 470 at 5000 if that helps. You are very close to that. I have not run the car. I am in the mist of a TH400 swap so no racing for a couple of weeks. Good Luck

Well, maybe with a full pull I would have been over 500, which was my goal when I got the 436.

This time around it should be better than before.

We'll see soon enough

Lots of people have similar heads/cam combo's and dyno WAY diffrent from each other. There are alot of other variables that have to be thrown into the equation. It does sound like your numbers are right in line with BEAR's and you should be close to 500 or more if the heads can handle the flow.

Don't the heads have to be set up for the larger bore? If they aren't, I would think it would hold back lots of power on a 436.

I lost 30 RWHP on my JPR S2 heads and cam package as soon as I drove it away from JD's dyno Dyno numbers went from 422 at JD's to 392 and 390 at two different dynos.

Thats what I figured. I dont doubt that the car made 500 that day,but what does taht mean? I ONLY WANT THE CAR TO ET FOR ITS WEIGHT. I am tired of excuses. Eastside has no responsibilty on my ETs as they are just verifying my package and tidying it up a bit.

Curb Weight= 3600
Motor= 427
Tranny= 400 + brake 3600 stall
Rear= 12 Bolt 4:10
Tire= 28x10.5x15 Hoosier Drag
ET=Priceless

***** all the shitty sponsors.

Soon, Soon ....

Either that, or there is some funny business going on with the weather station. I know JPR pumped my tires way up (40-50 PSI), not sure how much effect that has, but I have heard of it as a dyno trick. We also dropped the y-pipe, removed the air filter...tried every trick in the book short of removing the belts.

those are your standard dyno tricks. pretty lame, but more shops do it for "max effort" than most know.
