thanks for the compliments guys, I am just about to put the tranny on and then she will be ready for drop in tomorrow morning when my help gets here. Too bad Vince won't be one of the guys that is helping , Fedex said that the entire longblock in the crate weighed 600 lbs which I am thinking maybe they over rated it somehow.

Something kind of funny, I put the rest of the APE crate out by the road and somebody came and took it (maybe I should have sold it on ebay?)

What did it cost to have it shipped to you? I would have taken that crate!

Kick some *** with that thing, Mike!

What is the weight difference between an iron and aluminum block? Nice not to worry about dropping sleeves.

So what are u going to let JPR do on this motor. Install some springs, maybe adjust the CR, U might want to raise it a little. I would take it to JD's when u are done and make sure he thinks its 110% finished. You never can be too sure, ya know.

Looks great. On another topic I have an intermittent low voltage code on my cam sensor. Is the Cam Position Sensor the black tube in pictures ape3 and ape7? Also would it be in the same location on a 98 block?

Thanks

Is that the 370? That's what I'm planning on getting from APE . . . it weighs about 70lbs more than aluminum . . . and Chris suggested swapping in LT1 springs in the front, that will help weight distribution.

Is it easier to leave the tranny in when pulling the engine or taking it out? The Haynes manual says to leave it in . . .

I got in on that APE free shipping month and they paid for shipping back down to FL, I know it wasnt cheap cause when I sent my aluminum block to them with nothing in it besides the crank (weighed 250 lbs) it costed me close to 250.00 if I remember correctly to get it up to APE. I also just got another box from APE that had some of my stock parts left over including my stock timing set and chain, I bet they put in a double roller or some sort of upgrade without telling or charging me. It's kind of nice to find extra stuff done to the motor instead of looking for whats missing or whats wrong.

Bear the only thing that I want to use this motor for involving JPR is to use all the extra tq and hp to ram it through JPR's garage (Just kidding I would never really do this )

Must be nice!!!!!!!!!! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I've been troubleshooting issues all day and this is the first time I actually had time to click on to the internet. Those pictures look great. I will try to make it over there tomorrow after work. Save some work for me. I have already spoke to Sam@Coastaldyno and Chassis and he said just let him know when you are ready. It's going to be good to not hear you whining, I mean driving around again. I will be out soon, so save a race for me.

Mike do you think you could maybe take some pics of the front of the engine? I have been looking for pictures of an uninstalled 6.0 engine and I can't find one to save my life! I want so compare to my ls1 to see what I'm gunna need to do with those alternator bolts.

BTW I like that! I might check in on one of the APE shortblocks!

hey man i pulled an LS1 before without a hoist. i just pulled off the tranny and heads first. then me and a friend just picked it up and took it out very easly. . we were laughing about it latter on but it is possible. on my car though i pulled the tranny and intake and pulled it out the top without takeing off the hood. when i put it back in, i just put it in without the tranny and was able to do it by myself. although if you have access to a lift, it is easier to pull it out the bottom. i have done that also.

Damn you must be an animal lol. Ill be putting her in first thing in the morning and I think im gonna take off the hood and use the jackstands idea. I mounted the clutch assembly and tranny already as well as the motor mounts so I may as well do it this way. I'll report back how it goes.

hhhmmm , Looks like your setup is convincing me more and more to order the APE race head and that cam . Why can't money grew from the trees . Ohh , one other thing . How much did it cost to ship your motor from APE to florida ? Cause it should have to go to miami to a shipping company and from there with ship to Aruba .

I would guess about 300 bucks for the shipping, Maybe the APE guys can chime in on this cause they shipped it. Also here is the pic from the front of my motor for the guy who wanted to see that for his alternator troubles.
