Default Ape 408 Engine Dyno Results

Well we are fresh off the dyno with these results. The engine that was dyno'd was one of our 408 ls1's with our 6.0 liter race heads. The cam was a 244/248, .613/.615 on a 114 LSA. This engine is pump gas friendly and has just over 11:1 compression ratio. The engine BTW is owned by Mike K from the board. Thanks Mike for letting us have some fun with your engine

Base line tests were done at 28 degrees timing and and yeilded 516hp @ 5000rpm and 544 ftlbs @ 4800rpm.

With a little tuning we were able to bump the numbers up to 582hp @6300rpm and 551 ftlbs @ 4800rpm. All we did was lean her out a little bit.

Now for the good stuff, final results......with 30 degrees of timing we were able to accomplish 592hp @ 6400rpm and 553 ftlbs @ 4800rpm.

Just for a little side note, this engine made over 500hp from 4800rpm till the rev limiter and also made over 500 ftlbs from 3900 rpm till 6200 rpm. That's a pretty good hp/tq curve. This should make a very nice steetable engine.

BTW, I would like to thank Wheel to Wheel & Kurt Urban for letting us use their engine dyno. All testing was done at their facility on their DTS engine dyno, thanks!

Damn!! I must say I am pretty impressed with the final outcome especially at 11.1 compression. Those baseline runs had me worried lol but the end result has me very satisfied . Using the correction factor of 15 % this should put me just a tad above 500 to the wheels. Im betting the correction factor may be a bit less though considering my stock drivetrain and it will surely be interesting to actually have my engine dyno/ chassis dyno numbers for comparison. I'm so excited about it I'll probably have the motor in the day it gets down here to FL.

I know I have been one of your tough customers ( can you blame me considering my past )but it seems as though I made the right choice for my build. I can't wait to meet you guys when you come down here to do my final tune. Thanks again to all the guys (especially Chris) at APE for making me happy about my car once again and for standing behind your work with the warranty etc. You guys rule!!!

If you recall Mike I told you your engine was gonna be "HOT", its only now you see that I was right. Tough customer, you? Not hardly, the fact that you were willing to let us take your motor to dyno makes you one of the fun customers!! I am just glad that you can get back to kicking *** and taking names with the new motor!!

I was with your engine every step of the way at Wheel 2 Wheel today. At some points even pacing like an expecting father, in the end I was damn pleased with the numbers.

Now to get this thing to FL!!

Those #'s are sick!! Mike K. I told you APE would take care of you man.. The letters are APE and not JPR. Now put on a LSX 90MM and lets get some comparison #'s. Oh yeah, when you guys say a tad over 11.1:1. What do you mean?

Mike K. is definately going to be a force to reckon with.

Good job guys. 1.45hp/cid That is what I expect to see out of an engine. Good to see you're making torque as well.
