Default Is This A Bad Cam?

All my parts have been ordered for my cam upgrade that I will be doing here in about 3 weeks (yay!). I randomly stumbled across pictures of a bad camshaft from an LS1 today and the subject matter made me curious about my purchased on a used cam about a month ago. I visually inspected the camshaft again today and I want to know whether this camshaft is good or not? Supposedly the cam was in the engine for a few passes.

Picture #1:
There is visual wear on the cam. You can't feel it by hand. This one doesn't have me overly concerned, but enough to comment on it.

Picture #2:
Discoloration and rough to the touch. Has me VERY concerned.

All help appreciated.

the first picture looks normal to me an i wouldnt worry. in the 2nd pic it looks like the cam has some minor surface rust on it. in this case if thats what you feel you could try an emory cloth or some very fine steel wool and wd40 to clean it up. if that doesnt clean it up then it may be an issue

Hard to tell if it's surface rust, or pitting. Can't see the depth...

Either way, it's not from wear, as it isn't where the PR is going to ride. The first pic is completely normal. A cam with 5 minutes run time will look like that.

Just clean her up, coat her in oil and wrap, or drop in a Tupperware with cheap oil (Walmart SuperTech HD 30...?) until you're ready to install.

Take a piece of red scotch bright and polish it out, the cam look like normal wear and a little surface rust that should remove easily
