Default cam movement in block

just slid a CC cam into my '02 SS ls1 motor&I noticed the cam slid in an extra 1/4"-is this normal?

yes its normal for it to slide into the block a bit. the cam retainer keeps it in place

thank you for ur input redbird,I was starting to think I'd screwed something up.Tho I no I didnt push very hard to cause a rear plug to dislodge.

Wrong engine line, no rear plug on an LS. Take the back cover off and you could install the cam from the rear...
