Default truck 6.0 /head question

Hello everyone. I know this should be on performance truck but I can't find a lot of people running 243 heads on their trucks. SO, I'm building a lq4-2000 variety- with a trick flow 560 lift cam, running the 243 heads. I'm going to be shaving them .020 but am unsure if porting them would benefit or hurt performance. Being that the cam is mild and the heads were designed to max out at .550 lift and I'm using a nnbs intake would there be any meaningful benefit of porting them? 600 bucks for 20hp type question. Thanks for any input .

A good port job should never hurt performance, Someone who knows what they are doing should be able to improve performance throughout the power band. Porting is not just about max air flow...that would be to easy. It's about improving air flow without hurting velocity. You gain torque and HP and you may even see an improvement in gas mileage if you can keep your foot out of it. As far as cost versus benefits... That I can't answer.... To some people $600 is a huge expense to others it isn't.

Porting will only help assuming the person doing the work is competent. You would also be amazed at the amount of port volume you can take out and maintain good velocity.
