Default Few stroker questions

I know ls3 vs cathedral heads has been run through the ringer time and time again. But I've read in some older threads that some people were better off with cathedral ports for a taller cam. I'm wondering if I fall into that category.

What I have:
Lq4
4" eagle crank
4" wise I forged pistons
Currently patriot stage three heads that have been cnc ported to full race setup

I've got a unique opportunity that would allow me to switch heads at no cost other than some rockers (buying rockers either way).

What it's going in 67 Chevy II roughly 2900lbs. Th400 3800 stall with a brake. 3.90 rear end with 28x12.5s

I've talked to a local builder and tx speed and they say ls3 heads but both think they're going to be selling me their set of heads.

Nothing's been taken out of the package so if needed I can still swap pistons to get what I need compression wise or mill the heads.

Also just a side note the motor will see a 250 shot regular and is a 1/4 mile car.

I greatly appreciate responses and helpful links.

Well ported LS2 heads would work much better of a 408 than those Patriots. Just go with a well known porter and they will fly.

Right I've got a potential buyer tonight on the patriots for a price very very close to gmpp cnc ls3 heads new or better used ones on here. I've heard ls3 heads on the 6.0 causes for poor tq numbers down low but shouldn't my increased stroke help pick up tq all around for me? This is part of what I'm curious about. It is a street driven car.

Poor Torque is all in cam timing when it comes to the ls3 heads. Part of the reason LS3 heads are on production vehicle is VVT which works around the port to develop good torque numbers with a large port. Your car should be fine with how light it is. Given the option I would do small bore ls7 heads. The hardest part about l92 heads is getting the compression up. A slight dome piston works great in this application.

I don't think small bore ls7s are in the current budget. I'm trying to stay <1500 which limits me all around. I'm just getting the car back on the road for phase 1.0. Phase 1.5 will be a efi setup and ethanol. Then eventually back to the drawing board for a turbo. I really appreciate the input tho!
