LS1 Squealing noise
this is my MK2 Escort with LS1 conversion over in Scotland, as you can hear its got a loud squealing noise when running, i disconnected the belt and its still there, any ideas what i could be ? could it be the cam ? no idea of engine spec i presume its std, you dont hear noise when engine is on load just on idle and slightly when cruising

thanks for reply, defo not water pump or any pulleys as ive changed the water pump and ran the engine with the belt off and squealing noise is still there, it could be oil temperature related as it doesnt happen all the time, it only happens when the engine is really hot, im gonna try a more thicker heat resistant oil to see if that helps, i currently run Royal Purple 10W 40
has anyone had issues like this before ?
many thanks for any help :-)

Stick a srew driver to your ear with belts off & see if you can trace the noise
As has been said, PCV will squeal and make a hell of a noise
That sounds to me like a bearing, or at least a rotational noise of some sort. Vac leaks will typically have a more hissy or whistley sound to them, and would probably get louder with more air flow.
I had a similar noise with the VG motor that used to be in my Z. The water pump pulley was rubbing on the lower timing cover as I had installed it slightly out of alignment. It sounded almost exactly the same, and it made more noise when it was hot because everything would expand slightly and rub harder.

Longer shot - I assume you don't have A/C on that thing..but it does run off a separate belt.
Good luck!
mine is exactly the same
will try the PCV tubes in morning :-)
thanks for all the help, fingers crossed this is the prob :-)
