Default Best pushrod dia for my build

Alrighty I'm currently putting together my motor, here's the specs:

02 5.7 stock bottom end
243's full cnc porting 226cc by AI, milled to 61cc
226/234 113 LSA 600/600
Stock rockers with trunnion upgrade
Ls7 lifters
BT springs
Ls6 manifold

Should manage around 440-460 rwhp

I measured with the pushrod checker last night and I'm going with 7.300 length pushrods. I get 4130 chromemoly 5/16 x .080 wall thickness pushrods with my order from Ai but read where a larger dia pushrod is much more robust for valve geometry. Is going to a 11/32 dia or 3/8 dia worth the extra cost or is it overkill for my motor? I'll probably take the car to the strip a couple times a year.

I could have had them open up the hole for more clearance but wasn't aware of the larger pushrod dia at the time.

I want to order them tomorrow so quick opinions are much appreciated

What type of usage with the engine see, how high to you plan on spinning the motor?

You'll free some power on the top-end(? hp), but with the fairly mild lobes on that AI cam I couldn't see going any larger than 11/32" PRs..

6300-6500
Like I said it will be 2-3 times a year to the strip, will do a lot of cruises etc.

Car will have a Tremec t56 magnum with 4:11 or possibly 4:30 gears.

11/32 wouldn't hurt anything. The added weight is lifter side, so you can absorb the weight there without it affecting harmonics. It will fight off lifter loft better as the pushrod will be less likely to flex at higher RPMs.

With only running up to 6300-6500 rpm and the mild lobes on the AI cam I'd probably just run the 5/16" PRs and not give it a second thought.

I'd like to price an 11/32 PR; where is the best place to buy?

200 bucks shipped from Hinson. So $100 more than what I'd be paying Ai for their 5/16 PR's

Go with the largest outside diameter that will fit. Unless you run them back to back you won't know what difference it makes. Also, its not about hp, its about valve train stability. Made a big difference in my setup. You can get the 11/32" very quickly from Manton pushrods. Here is a write-up I did on mine some time back: Link to Pushrod Stiffness

Hinson stocks them. Or you can call Manton directly.

I actually worked with Tony Mamo on getting them for my build.

Why not just go 3/8 and be done with it?

Do you happen to have the dyno graph from your article showing the gain and how it doesnt roll over after 6200 ?
