Add chain damper when swapping cam ?

Just started a mild cam swap in a CTS-V with about 37K. There is not a damper there now but I have one I picked up somewhere. I am not changing the oil pump so is it worth it to just bolt it in and go or will the damper do nothing for me ?

I would, since it's right there. Def won't hurt. Especially if you do track days or autox.

That was a bust. Need the pump out to get the bolts in.

Yes, it's worth it & be sure to check pump alignment parallel to the shaft when it's re-installed. I don't know if the CTS-V uses an LS2 or an LS3 chain, but if something other than an (LS2 or LS3 chain) add an LS2 or LS3 chain to the list.
