Default ls1 to Lq4 conversion and boosting

Just bought a bare 98 6.0 lq4 block and a set of bare 317 aluminum heads. I currently have a 98 ls1 6 speed Trans am and wanting to convert my motor to an ls lq4 and boost it to about 10-15 pounds. my ls1 is currently stock besides all bolt ons. as far as I know all my sensor and accessories should transfer from my ls1 to the lq4 no problem besides a few things that I'm gonna buy new anyways. I'm on a tight budget but want to build it right and durable. Im aiming for 500-550 horse to the wheels. I'd appreciate an experienced answer and not no bullshit. Correct me if I'm wrong and add some details I'd appreciate it. but my plan is to buy a set of forged Pistons and rods, a nice cam for a turbo set up, get a decent head internal set up but nothing too too fancy and swap out all my other parts such as sensors, intake, crank and else what not? thank you very much for the response.

If you're going with forged pistons/rods, I'd just leave the stock crank and stud the heads. The stock crank is pretty much bullet-proof. Unless you want a stroker, the money is better spent elsewhere. Are you planning to swap the PCM?

no I was just gonna have guy here in town to tune it for me. would you recommend swap it out? and what cam / piston / rod combo you think would be best for 500-550 rwhp but I want it to my track car and be able to drive it around town as well.?

also what do u think would be the best combo for my heads since they are bare I'm talking about spring rockers and valve wise? or should I reuse all my ls1 head components and just swap out the springs?but I'm not exactly sure if all ls1 head components transfer to 317s tho

It's not necessary, just pretty common. I'll let someone in the turbo world give you advice on the cam specs. As far as pistons go, I'd look at Diamond or Wiseco. Rods - you can push some good power on the stock rods, but if you're going with forged pistons, I'd just do the rods while you're at it. Callies or Lunati would be my pick, but others have run Eagle with no issues.

I would use your valves if they are in good shape unless you want to go bigger, then I'd go with Manley. Do the trunnion upgrade on the stock rockers and don't look back. As for springs, check out BTR for a set to match whatever cam you end up going with.
